Apple’s AirPods Pro are just fantastic, especially if you hack them to fit your ears even better. But those interchangeable silicone tips are just one (or two) more thing to lose, or to break. The good news is, Apple will sell you replacement silicone tips for your AirPods Pro. The bad news is, you can’t just order them up from the Apple Store, or from Amazon.

Probably the easiest way to get replacement tips for your AirPods Pro is to visit an Apple Store. If you just turn up, it’s possible you’ll get what you want, but as you’ll see in a moment, even if you’re rising the store, you can order the tips for pickup.

How to order new AirPods Pro tips from Apple

Step one: Head to Apple’s AirPods support page. At the top, right under the photo of the buy with a button-down collar, you’ll see a link to Replace an AirPod or ear tip. Click that. You’ll then get a new page, with a pop up offering several options. Click the noble that lets you order a replacement, ands follow along with the instructions. You’ll have to authenticate with your Apple ID, and may need to enter a serial number.

Then, you can choose to have the new tips shipped to you, or pick them up in your local Apple Store. The price is low — you should be paying around $4 for the new tips.

Third-party tips

There is another option. Third-party AirPods Pro tips are starting to show up on Amazon. I’ve even ordered a set, but they still haven’t arrived yet. One possible advantage to picking third-party options over Apple’s own tips is that — depending on the size and shape of your ears — they may fit better. Or not. Like anything on Amazon, you’re just as likely to end up with a cheap, poorly-made knockoff as you are to receive something good.
