CES 2020 The new Blue Doorbell Camera by ADT lets users talk with visitors from anywhere via an iPhone app, and alerts the user whenever anyone approaches their door.

It joins just two other doorbells that support Apple’s HomeKit home automation system, making this a significant addition to the available options.

ADT’s Blue Doorbell Camera is smart

ADT’s new doorbell cam was designed to be installed by anyone, as long as their current setup sends AC power to the doorbell. It was designed to be water resistant and operate in high or low temperatures.

It includes an HD camera with a 180 degree field of view and night vision. An app lets the user talk to anyone at the door, and the Blue Doorbell Camera can store its video recordings online, though this requires an optional subscription plan.

This home accessory can be pre-ordered today on the ADT website, and its manufacturer says will ship before Jan. 31. That said, HomeKit support is coming in an update scheduled for the April-to-June quarter. At present, Alexa and IFTTT are supported.

One of the very few alternatives with HomeKit is the ProLine Doorbell, which is also scheduled to launch globally this month.

More new Homekit-compatible cameras from ADT

Two other cameras were also added to the ADT’s lineup of HomeKit-compatible products today.

The Blue Indoor Camera has motion detection, a 130 degree field of view with night vision, and it allows two-way communication. One of its most notable features is built-in smoke and carbon monoxide detection.

The Blue Outdoor Camera is very similar, but runs completely on battery power.

Like ADT’s Blue Doorbell Camera, each of these costs $199.99, and will ship before Jan. 31. Again, HomeKit support is coming in Q2.

These were unveiled at CES 2020, an enormous trade show going on now in Las Vegas. Quite a few other products are being announced as well.
