The vault in the name of this action game is real, though it’s actual name is the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. It’s near the North Pole, and holds food crop seeds that would be needed in case of a global catastrophe. In Doomsday Vault, it’s your mission to add plants to this repository.
Flightless, the creators of this post-apocalyptic game for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, says players will “adventure around the world in your robotic suit and use your suits tools and abilities to explore challenging environments. Navigate desolate landscapes, flooded cities and derelict buildings to find seeds from critical plant species and return them to the safety of the vault.“
Part of the challenge comes from evading robots left behind by corporations to guard their facilities, but this isn’t a typical fighting game. It’s about puzzles, instead. And it supports MFi controllers, including certain Xbox and PlayStation ones.

Doomsday Vault debuted today on Apple Arcade. That means the only way to play this title is to join this gaming service, which comes with a $4.99 a month subscription fee.
Biut that fee also bring access to over 100 other games, all of which can be played on a variety of Apple devices. Some of the best options include Sayonara Wild Hearts and Oceanhorn 2, and there are plenty more.
