Apple is giving App Store customers free digital treats over the holidays.

Users in Australia, where it is now Christmas Eve, are waking up to a new App Store story that promises “a new surprise every day” from December 24 to December 29.

“Come back daily to discover which treat we have waiting for you,” Apple says.

Long-time iPhone and iPad users will remember Apple used to run a holiday promotion called “12 Days of Christmas.” Every day for 12 days, it offered up free apps, games, songs, movies, and more.

It’s been a while since we’ve had that, but it seems Apple is bringing the holiday freebies back this year.

Don’t miss your App Store ‘treats’

A new story on the Australian App Store confirms there will be “unwrapped presents” to enjoy between December 24 and December 29. You’ll be able to find them in the Today, Games, and Apps tabs.

“You’ve find a new surprise every day on the App Store,” Apple says.

Tuesday’s surprise isn’t live yet for Australian users. But given that this promotion is happening inside the App Store, it seems free iOS apps and games (not movies, books, or songs) will be on offer.

It’s not yet clear if this is a worldwide promotion. We’ve asked Apple for more details. But it’s likely most of us will see the same when we visit the App Store tomorrow, December 24.
