A brand-new Apple original this week premiered in Los Angeles, California, ahead of its Apple TV+ debut. Truth Be Told starring Octavia Spencer will be available for streaming on December 6.

The limited drama series, based on the novel Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber, follows a podcaster who is compelled to reopen the murder case that made her a national sensation.

Apple’s small selection of TV+ originals were panned by critics ahead of the service’s big debut on November 1. But it seems the majority of viewers can’t get enough.

The likes of See and The Morning Show have had fans hooked, and Apple has more shows up its sleeve that will keep us coming back for me. Truth Be Told is next up on the docket.

Truth Be Told fuels America’s obsession with true crime

The new show sees podcaster Poppy Parnell, played by Spencer, coming face-to-face with Warren Cave (Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad) — the man she may have mistakenly helped to put behind bars for murder.

Truth Be Told promises a unique glimpse into America’s obsession with true crime, Apple says. It also challenges viewers to consider the consequences when the pursuit of justice becomes public interest.

Truth Be Told, like The Morning Show, is produced by Reese Witherspoon. Nichelle Tramble Spellman (The Good Wife, Justified) serves as writer and executive producer. Its all-star cast features Lizzy Caplan, Elizabeth Perkins, and Michael Beach.

Truth Be Told hits Apple TV+ on December 6

Truth Be Told makes its Apple TV+ debut in more than 100 countries on December 6. The first three episodes will be available on that date, with new ones being added weekly, every Friday.

You’ll need an Apple TV+ subscription, priced at $4.99 a month for up to six family members, to enjoy the show. A month-long trial is available, and those who purchased a new Apple devices this fall may be eligible to get their first year absolutely free.
