The sub-$400 iPhone supposedly coming the first quarter of next year will have improved wireless performance thanks to a liquid crystal polymer antenna, according to the well-respected analyst who’s the source of many details about this unannounced handset.

It’s often called the “iPhone SE 2” but allegedly won‘t have much in common with that earlier model aside from an affordable price tag.

One improvement from the device released in 2016 will be that liquid crystal polymer antenna, according to respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF Securities. LCP allows advanced antennas to be packed into very small spaces.

More about the “iPhone SE 2”

The major difference between the handset Kuo predicts is coming in Q1 2020 and the original iPhone SE is size. The upcoming model will supposedly resemble an iPhone 8, which had a 4.7-inch display. The SE had a 4-inch one.

The next iOS device is expected to be built around an Apple A13 Bionic processor, which is also used in the new iPhone 11. There will be 3GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage. Features like that will allow it to take advantage of the Apple Arcade and Apple TV services.

This device — whatever it ends up being named — will supposedly sell for only $399.
