Apple decided to go all in on its revived Texas Hold’em game. The company brought this classic — which debuted on the iPod way back in 2006 — back to iPhone this summer, and now there’s an iPad version.

The simulated gambling app offers two options for multitasking on an iPadOS device. The description for the just-released version 2.1 says:

“Texas Hold’em comes to iPad — enjoy it full screen, or play it while you do something else using Split View or Slide Over.”

Apple’s Texas Hold’em predates the App Store

Apple originally released the game to encourage people to create apps for the iPod — the iPhone was still a year away. Players controlled the game using the iPod’s ingenious Click Wheel.

An iPhone version came later. However, Apple allowed it to languish. Eventually the classic game disappeared from the App Store.

Texas Hold’em reappeared in July as part of a celebration of the App Store’s 10th anniversary. This version lets players take on 24 computer-controlled opponents, or up to eight friends over Wi-Fi. It offers 10 different locations, from Las Vegas to Macau.

Ready to go large with your simulated poker?  You can download Texas Hold’em for iPad now on the App Store. It’s free.
