John Hancock will start selling Apple Watch Series 5 for just $25 this fall.

The new wearable, which usually starts at $399, will be available to life insurance customers who vow to be more active. But you’ll need to stick to your promise of living a healthier lifestyle.

John Hancock back in 2017 become one of the first insurers to start offering Apple Watch at a discount for life insurance policy holders. It obviously sees the advantages in keeping its customers healthy.

And its plan is working. So much so that John Hancock will expand its Apple Watch program to include the newest model later this fall.

The program will allow Vitality life insurance policy holders to bag a 40mm Series 5 for just $25 plus tax. Customers will have the option to upgrade to the 44mm or cellular models for an additional fee.

It doesn’t stop there, though. Once you have your insanely cheap Apple Watch, you’ll have to earn points toward your monthly payments by being active.

John Hancock explains:

Whether they like to walk, run, bike or swim, it’s easy for participants to share their activities and earn points that go toward monthly payments for their Watch over a two-year period.

John Hancock Vitality members are able to fully fund their Watch by meeting monthly physical activity targets.

‘Good for business’

A survey of Vitality customers found that an impressive 84% are “motivated to exercise by their Apple Watch.” A whopping 90% said they wear their Watch every single day.

John Hancock CEO Brooks Tingle says that’s exactly what the company is aiming for — helping customers stay healthy. It’s not only good for them, but for business, too.

Apple Watch has been an extremely popular and effective component of our program as customers who use it report increased motivation and physical activity, the bottom line in what we’re trying to do with our insurance.

Healthier lives are not only good for our customers and their families, but good for our business and society as a whole.
