Huawei’s newest AirPods clones have beaten Apple to active noise cancellation (ANC).

The new feature is rumored to be on its way to next-generation AirPods in 2020. But if you can’t wait, the latest FreeBuds have you covered — and they beat AirPods in other areas, too.

Almost every gadget maker has its own alternative to AirPods by now. And in most cases, they’re not quite as good. But Huawei is hoping to change that with its third-generation FreeBuds.

They’re probably the closest you’ll get to Apple’s wireless buds in terms of design — but they pack even more features.

FreeBuds block out background noise

The big different between AirPods and FreeBuds is that the latter now boast ANC. That means they can block out background noise, allowing you to get lost in your favorite music.

What’s great about FreeBuds ANC is that it can tell when you’re talking, so it won’t block out your voice when you’re on the phone. But it will prevent windy days from ruining your conversations.

FreeBuds are powered by Huawei’s brand new A1 wearable chip, which offers both Bluetooth 5.1 and Bluetooth 5.1 Low Energy. It promises better sound and a reliable wireless connection.

Advantages over AirPods

ANC isn’t the only advantage FreeBuds have over AirPods, either. Huawei says they’ll charge 100% faster than Apple’s headphones when you use a cable, or 50% faster with a wireless charger.

A full charge gets you four hours of use, while the FreeBuds case offers another 20 hours.

The new FreeBuds got their official unveiling at IFA 2019 in Berlin on Friday, but Huawei is yet to confirm when they will be available or how much they’ll cost.
