A smartphone stabilizer helps the mobile filmmaker record smooth footage. But its bulk and awkward shape can make it challenging to pack.
DJI said it went back to the drawing board to create the Osmo Mobile 3. The lightweight, foldable, three-axis gimbal went on sale today.
The new DJI smartphone gimbal is light on the wallet ($119) without going light on the specs necessary to capture stable, professional footage.
Its features include 15 hours of battery life, control buttons easily accessible on the handle and a “Quick Roll” motion that rotates the orientation of the smartphone by pressing the Mode button twice. It can track a moving subject, and sports a zoom slider to eliminate the need to touch the phone screen.
The Osmo Mobile 3 connects to DJI’s Mimo app for a variety of creative modes, gesture controls and additional tracking with deep-learning algorithms.
DJI, the top brand in the drone space, is steadily bringing its stabilizer technology to grounded filmmakers. The company’s growing list of products includes gimbal cameras and stabilizers for DSLR cameras.
DJI made news earlier this week when photos reportedly showing a Mavic Mini drone leaked online. That drone is expected to be officially announced in a few months, if not sooner.
