This week’s Fortnite update is out with a brand new sniper rifle never before seen in Battle Royale.

The version 9.41 release also brings overtime challenges for season nine, birthday presents filled with loot, and picture-in-picture streaming of the Fortnite World Cup.

Fortnite’s 10th season is right around the corner, but there’s still plenty left to enjoy in season nine. It’s also time to celebrate the game’s second birthday.

Here’s what you have to look forward to this week.

Storm scout sniper offers rotation advantage

The biggest addition to Battle Royale this week is the brand new storm scout sniper rifle. It’s not the most powerful sniper in the game, with a base damage of 81/85, but it has a trick up its sleeve.

A built-in weather map lets you see storm circles before they are revealed on the map. You can scope in to see where the storm is headed and start your rotation ahead of everyone else.

The storm scout deals headshot damage of 202/212 and fires 1.1 rounds per second. It uses heavy ammo and comes in epic and legendary varieties.

Celebrate Fortnite’s 2nd birthday

You will also find birthday presents in-game this week.

These are legendary items that appear in chests, vending machines, supply drops, loot llamas, and on the floor. Each present has six possible loot packages.

There’s birthday cake, too. Just like last year, it can be found in various places of interest around the Battle Royale map. Consuming a piece gives you five health and five shield.

Drop in for overtime challenges

This week’s update also brings season nine’s overtime challenges. They give you a reason to keep playing the game even if you’ve already completed all challenges from the previous ten weeks.

Finally, Epic has added picture-in-picture streaming of the Fortnite World Cup. You can watch your favorite players fight for wins while you do the same.

The Fortnite 9.41 update is available now across all platforms. Go grab it and jump into Battle Royale to enjoy the changes.
