Speedtest is a useful iOS application that shows users how fast their network connection is. Its latest update is more about fun than Internet speeds, though. It’s a humorous homage to the company’s namesake, Ookla the cat.

Although Ookla has long-since passed on, his reputation lives. A hidden series of screens tells of the days when “all who trespassed in his home soon met his bitter wrath.”

The easter egg asks for tribute for this formidable kitty. This takes the form of network tests done with an Ookla theme. If all Speedtest users do enough of them, rewards will be unlocked, like an Ookla wallpaper.

To launch the Ookla-themed version of this software, press and hold the Go button on the application’s home screen. Be patient; it takes close to 10 seconds for the homage to this redoubtable cat to begin.

Anyone just learning about Speedtest can download it from the App Store. It’s free to use.
