Can’t agree on the music to get you and your partner in the mood? That’s what AirPods are for.

A survey exploring the intersection of sex and music turned up this fun little finding. Out of 1,010 people surveyed, 17 percent said they wore AirPods during sex.

Sadly, TickPick, the online seller of sports and concert tickets conducting the survey, didn’t follow up with more penetrating questions.

We’re the AirPods left in accidentally, like the Olympic swimmer last week who forgot to take her’s out before a big race?

Is it indeed a sign of compromise for partners with completely different playlists? Or is it, as one Twitter users wondered, a replacement for socks?

Without Masters and Johnson, we can only guess.

The survey was intended to explore how music choice affects sex. Country music fans seem the most satisfied with their sex lives, lovers of pop music, the least. The EDM fans are most likely to indulge in fetishes.

You can explore all the dirty details for yourself by reading TickPick’s findings here.

“For those who still care for their partner despite musical differences, modern technology may come in handy,” the author of the survey wrote. “Seventeen percent of Apple AirPod owners had sex while wearing them. The wireless earphones could offer simultaneous enjoyment of wildly different music tastes, although this is just one scenario.”

The deliberate use of AirPods as a way to compromise is a good guess. Some 80 percent with similar tastes in music to their partner were satisfied with their sex life. Compare that to 43 percent among couples with different tastes.
