This week’s Fortnite update is out with a brand new item that lets you heal teammates easier than ever before. The Chug Splash is a throwable that grants 20 health or shield to anyone within its splash radius.

The version 9.30 release also removes a number of weapons, including the popular Boom Bow. But Battle Royale players will be pleased to see that Epic Games has finally ditched the shotgun swap delay.

If you often play Fortnite with a squad, you’ll know it can sometimes be difficult to help injured teammates when you’re caught in the action. But with the Chug Splash, keeping friends alive is as easy as throwing stuff at them.

Fortnite’s Chug Splash keeps your squad fighting fit

Simply launch a Chug Splash in the direction of teammates and 20 health or shield will be granted instantly. But be careful: The Chug Splash will also heal enemies within its splash radius, so an accurate throw is important.

The Chug Splash is a rare item that can be found in chests, vending machines, supply drops, llamas, and on the floor. They drop in stacks of two and you can carry up to six in one inventory slot for a maximum of 120 health/shield.

This week’s weapon changes

Epic has made a number of weapon changes and tweaks this week.

The shotgun swap delay has been removed when you’re carrying just one shotgun. That means you’ll be able to swap back and forth between other weapons without having to wait to take your next shot. You will still experience a delay when switching between multiple shotguns, however.

“This is a Quality of Life change to prevent the swap delay system from interfering with players who do not have multiple shotguns in their inventory,” Epic explains. “As with all changes, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this and make adjustments if necessary.”

This update also reduces the long-range effectiveness of the combat shotgun. Damage at medium distances has fallen 10%, while damage at long distances has fallen by a more noticeable 20%.

The Boom Bow, dual pistols, and dynamite have all been vaulted this week, which means you will no longer find them in Battle Royale game modes.

This week’s game modes

While we’re on the subject of Battle Royale game modes, there are three additions to enjoy this week. Sniper Shootout Duos and Solid Gold Squads have returned, and there’s a Trios mode for those with only two friends.

Epic has also made a whole host of bug fixes and improvements in the version 9.30 update. You can read through them all on the official Fortnite blog. When you’re ready, the update is available to download across all platforms.
