Apple Pay is now available for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch users in the Netherlands.
ING is the first local bank to offer support for the mobile payments service. The expansion comes just a few weeks after Apple Pay rolled out in Hungary and Luxembourg — and went live on the New York City subway.
Apple Pay has been slowly but surely making its way to more markets since it first launched in the United States in 2014. Apple plans to support at least 40 countries by the end of 2019, with 16 new markets already confirmed.
The wait is now over for those in the Netherlands — so long as they use one particular bank.
ING rolls out Apple Pay support
ING is the first and only bank to support Apple Pay in the Netherlands on day one. It’s not yet clear if or when other local banks will add support.
To get started, simply add your ING card to the Wallet app on your iPhone and Apple Watch, and to the Wallet & Apple Pay settings on your iPad. You’ll need a compatible device running iOS 11.2 or later.
It should be noted that Apple Pay only just went live in the Netherlands this morning. So if you have any issues adding your card right away, you may need to wait a little while before trying again.
