Fortnite’s $1 million Winter Royale is open to all

By

Do you think you have what it takes to earn real money playing Fortnite? You’ll soon have the opportunity to prove it in the Winter Royale Online Tournament, a new competition from Epic Games that’s offering a $1 million prize pool.

Winter Royale will serve as a testing ground for next year’s Fortnite World Cup, and it will be open to all Battle Royale players — not just the pros.

Many of us put countless hours into our favorite video games to be the best we can be, but that’s usually just to beat high scores or impress our friends. It’s rare that we get the opportunity to use our skills to earn real money.

But once again, Epic is offering up $1 million to the best Fortnite players, and you can fight for your stake from the comfort of your own living room.

Winter Royale kicks off next week

Winter Royale kicks off with qualifiers that take place over November 24 and November 25. It’s open to players in North America and Europe, and those who take part will be given several changes to earn their highest score.

The highest score you achieve will be the one Epic recognizes, and it could just earn you a place in the Winter Royale Finals. Those will take place between November 30 and December 1 for those in Europe, and between December 11 and December 12 for those in North America.

Epic says it plans to hold other region-specific tournaments in additional countries “in the near future.”

See Fortnite’s Events tab for more

It’s not yet clear how that $1 million prize pool will be divided up, but we’ll find out more soon. Epic tells players to keep an eye on the in-game Events tab, where you’ll find the Winter Royale schedule and additional details.

Will you be taking part?
