Fortnite players can look forward to more changes as we approach the end of 2018, with dynamite on the way in an upcoming release, and a possible snowstorm that will bring a winter theme to the Battle Royale map.
Here’s what you have to look forward to.
Its frequent changes, which are still arriving a year after Battle Royale made its debut, are one of the things that have made Fortnite so popular. It’s harder for players to get bored of a game that always offers something new. And it seems Epic has big things planned for the winter.
Dynamite will explode into Battle Royale this week
This week’s Fortnite update will add dynamite to Battle Royale for the first time. “Light the fuse and wait for the boom!” reads its teaser description. It’s not yet clear how the new explosive will actually work, however.

Epic Games doesn’t tell us much about dynamite, and data miners haven’t been able to uncover further details in the game’s files. It could be that the item will be exclusive to the upcoming Wild West limited-time game mode that was confirmed this week.
Wild West will take players back in time. There will be no automatic weapons, rocket launchers, traps, or motorized vehicles. Other explosives will be taken away, too, so dynamite may be the only option.
Winter is coming
The most exciting change on the horizon is a possible snowstorm that could have a major impact on the Battle Royale map. A storm cloud has already been spotted in the sky, and it is expected to bring snow and ice that will transform certain areas.
In line with this, Epic recently released a new Fortnite Deep Freeze bundle — its first retail release. It gives players the Frostbite outfit, Cold Front glider, Chill-Axe pickaxe, and Freezing Point back bling — all of which indicate colder weather is on the way.
It’s likely these changes will come with Fortnite season seven, which will kick off in early December. Until then, we’ll have to rely on leaks and other teasers for hints at what’s to come.
