There’s a good chance you’re looking at your iPhone more than ever before. A new study shows that it’s dozens of times every day. Which really isn’t a good thing.

Especially as another study has found that iPhone usage can ruin your vacation.

The U.S. Edition of Deloitte’s 2018 global mobile consumer survey found that “Americans are viewing their smartphones more often than ever before, on average 52 times per day.”

And these aren’t all people checking Snapchat. About a third of adults admit that they use their phone “very/fairly often” for work after business hours. That’s allowing one’s job to encroach on your personal life.

But turnabout is fair play. Almost 60 percent of respondents to this survey admit they use their personal phone at work “very/fairly often.”

Be careful vacationing with your iPhone

Naturally, we don’t leave our phones at home when we go on holiday. And this can cause problems.

A separate survey by BankMyCell found that 49% of users regret how often they use their iPhone on vacation. And 51% of respondents have become aggravated with how much time their vacation partners were using their phone.

But sometimes we have no choice. The survey discovered that 45% of Apple users feel they’re on call from work even while on holiday.

Consider using Screen Time

Screen Time is a new feature in iOS 12 for monitoring and limiting how you spend time on your iPhone and iPad. It tracks how long you spend using each individual app on your devices. It will even show you hours and minutes spent on individual websites in Safari.

If you don’t like the results — and those surveys show you probably won’t — Screen Time lets you set limits on the time allowed in certain applications, like Facebook.

Or you can can take it to another level by restricting the entire device for periods of Down Time. To be more productive, you can shut down all applications while permitting just the ones you need to get work done.
