No matter what you plan to do with your beautiful new iPad Pro, make sure you never break it. Or if you do, you better buy AppleCare+.

Apple published the pricing for replacing a broken iPad Pro on its website today and the out-of-warranty costs are so high you could nearly buy an entirely new iPad Pro.

AppleCare+ on both of the 2018 iPad Pro models is just $129. That extends the warranty to two years and gives you two incidents of accidental damage like a cracked screen. You have to pay a $49 service for each replacement, but even if you use up both of you break your screen twice the total cost to you would be $227.

Don’t drop it!

If you don’t get AppleCare+, get ready to fork over a ton of cash for repairs if you ever drop it. Fixes for the 11-inch iPad Pro cost $499. The new 12-inch will set you back $649 per repair, while the 10.5-inch iPad Pro costs $449 for repairs.

Those repair fees are for any out-of-warranty damages. That includes broken screens, busted speakers, water damage or whatever else you manage to do to mangle you gorgeous tablet.

Adding AppleCare+ to your iPad Pro boosts up the initial cost of the device, but Apple is also giving customers the option to pay monthly, that way it doesn’t hit your wallet quite as hard.
