Beyond just professionals, Apple encourages everyone to send in their pictures to be part of the “Shot on iPhone” advertising campaign. Today it posted the first crop of images taken with the brand-new iPhone XS.

Apple’s latest handsets sports new features that are highlighted in these spectacular shots.

“Amateurs and pros alike are taking advantage of the breakthrough 12MP dual camera system on iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. New features like Smart HDR, advanced bokeh in Portrait mode and the ability to change the depth of field with Depth Control are all huge improvements in state-of-the-art photographic techniques that everyone can use,” the company said in a statement.

Many of the images take advantage of the improved bokeh (“bo-kay”) capabilities. Previous dual-lens iPhone cameras could take this type of images, but Apple’s latest allow the user to adjust how blurry the background is.

Verity Milligan posted a “Shot On iPhone” image to Twitter, along with the note “I’m loving the fact I can adjust depth of field, and finally the camera focusses on my dog in portrait mode!”

Another image came from Jon Chiang, who said on Instagram “The camera is indeed a huge step up, with all the new computational photography features like the Smart HDR delivering great results for a phone!”
