iPhone X was a hit on Black Friday, with more than 6 million units sold, according to analysts. That’s more than half the total of overall iPhone sales on November 24.

We didn’t see any spectacular deals on iPhone X for Black Friday. That’s hardly surprising given the device had only been on sale for 21 days. But despite big discounts, Apple’s hot new handset still sold incredibly well, according to Rosenblatt China Technology.

iPhone X sales top 6 million units

Of the 15 million iPhone units sold on November 24, 6 million were iPhone X units, says analyst Jun Zhang. Demand for the more expensive 256GB model was double that of the 64GB model, which is great news for Apple’s bottom line.

It won’t make a massive difference to iPhone X sales overall, however. While Rosenblatt increased its shipping forecast for the December quarter from 28 million to 30 million units, it reduced its forecast for the March quarter from 45 million to 40 million units.

Overall, Apple expects to sell 80 million iPhone units over the holidays. If it meets its guidance, it will be a new record for the Cupertino company.
