Apple surprised developers today with the release of the first beta for iOS 11.2.

iOS 11.2 beta 1 was seeded to developers even though iOS 11.1 still hasn’t been released to the public. The update comes with a number of new features as well as bug fixes and performance improvements.

Registered developers can download iOS 11.2 beta 1 from Apple’s online developer portal. It can also be installed as an over-the-air update once you download the proper installation profile to your iOS device.

watchOS 4.2 and tvOS 11.2 betas too

Apple released betas for watchOS 4.2 and tvOS 11.2 this morning as well. The batch of betas could mean that a public launch for iOS 11.1, watchOS 4.1 and tvOS 11.1 could be just around the corner.

The release notes for iOS 11.2 beta 1 don’t mention any major UI changes but we’ll find out more once we get it installed on our iPhones. Early reports from Twitter indicate that the update does not contain person-to-person Apple Pay. That feature is expected to arrive by the end of the year, however.

iOS 11.1 is currently in its fifth beta build. The update contains a number of new additions, including dozens of new emojis from the Unicode 10 character set.
