Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty is predicting big things for iPhone 8 sales once Apple finally unveils the device this fall.

In her latest research note to clients, the Wall Street analyst predicts that the edge-to-edge OLED display and longer battery life on the iPhone 8 will accelerate upgrades from customers with iPhones that are two years old or older.

Apple will introduce a significant form factor change with wireless charging, Huberty claims in the note obtained by MacRumors. She says other features could include 3-D sensors and advanced artificial intelligence software upgrades.

Upgrading to iPhone 8

Apple bulls on Wall Street are hoping the new features trigger more upgrades than ever. As a result, Apple’s stock hit historic highs this week. While customers in the United States are eager for a new iPhone form factor, Huberty says China will love it even more.

“While we see accelerated upgrades for Apple’s highest end users in all regions, our work suggests China users are especially sensitive to new technology and form factor changes,” says Huberty.

The iPhone 8 is expected to be announced at an event this fall. Apple may introduce three new models with 4.7-inch, 5-inch and 5.7-inch screen sizes.
