Already bored of Pokémon GO? So are millions of others, it seems — but Niantic has tricks up its sleeve to get you back. With an update that’s coming “soon,” Pokémon GO will get daily and weekly bonuses that will encourage you to keep playing.

Pokémon GO quickly became a smash hit when it debuted in July, and it’s one of the most profitable titles of 2016 after more than half a billion downloads worldwide. The mobile game turned smartphone owners into Pokémon hunters — and even helped some players get fit.

But in recent months, excitement for the game seems to have worn off slightly.

That’s obviously not what developer Niantic wants, so the company is making moves to keep Pokémon GO on your mind. It is rolling out an update that rewards players with bonus XP and other items for completing daily and weekly challenges.

Catching a Pokémon every day will earn you 500 XP and 600 stardust, Niantic explains on its blog. Catching one every day for seven days straight will earn you 2,000 XP and 2,400 stardust.

Visiting a PokéStop every day will earn you an additional 500 XP and “a number” of other items — though it’s not yet clear what those will be. Visiting a PokéStop every day for seven days straight will earn you 2,000 XP and “a greater number” of other items.

“If you catch a Pokémon at any time on Tuesday local time, you’ll be eligible for the next daily bonus on Wednesday at 12 AM local time,” adds Niantic.

Wow, doing the same boring stuff for a reward used to play a game doing the same boring stuff. The game mechanics need a drastic overhaul, Pokemon Go is simply boring, XP incentives won’t make up for that.

It’s been 1 yr since I decided to abandon my previous job and I am so happy now… I started freelancing on-line, for a company I found over internet, for a few hours daily, and my income now is much bigger then it was on my previous job… My payment for last month was for Nine thousand bucks… Superb thing about this is that now i have more time for my family… KORTA.NU/MDe

  • Too bad you can’t stop the already left from leaving, which is pretty much all of us.

Too late, most people deleted it and moved on to the next app.

They had a great idea, but completely wasted it and took too long to make the game worth keeping around.

They need to get the battles and trading working as well as the lack of pokestops and good pokemon in small towns

Not that it matters for myself and many others, as we’re blocked by SafetyNet, even though we’re doing nothing malicious.

And candy wen doing gym battles

They are clearly clueless of how people play and people can’t be force to play how they think it should be played.

Want to get people back bring the dam tracker back would be a start. I’ve barely played it with some during the Halloween but I don’t need any ghastly or zubats.

This is stupid, you still prove no point why I should play. Niantic is just another scam for game freak which is not a main part of it. Niantic is stupid, there I said It. Also people should play the original games so they have a bit of experience by not asking other people dumb stuff.

People still play this? It was a shit game that everyone tried for no other reason than everyone else was trying it. The handful of players who are still around don’t need bonus xp to keep playing, they need solid game mechanics. Just more fail tacos from a brain dead developer who got lucky.

Some negative nancies here. Yes, this game is still quite popular. It’s just fine for a free phone game. When I catch em all I’ll get sick of it, but I haven’t yet.

That’s true. They made it so you’d actually have to travel to different countries to obtain some. Than there’s the legendary birds, Ditto, Mew and Mewtwo.

If you ask me I predicted that it would slow down and I was right I use to not be able to keep my Pokémon in a gym but I have 5 in gyms and it’s awesome.

Die hard Pokémon fans are the only ones that haven’t turned their backs on this game. Sad to see that people that just got into this game for this app don’t realize that this game can go far. THEY ONLY COVERED KANTO SO FAR PEOPLE. There’s 5 other regions out there.

      • They need to keep the rollout slow so we can all save up our money for a trip to Hawaii to catch the illusive Alolan Executors!

Sounds good to me. I play casually 4-5 times a week for a few minutes if I’m near a known pokestop. This will keep me in the game, and leveling until they implement duels, and trading.

Did the game ever bring back tracking?
