Twitter gives Apple an earful over removing earphone jack

It didn’t take long before #jackoff was trending.

Soon after Apple announced the new iPhone 7 would come sans earphone jack, Twitter gave Tim Cook and company an earful. Despite months of speculation that Apple would move toward wireless audio, fans registered their anger on social media as if Apple had caught them by surprise.

It didn’t help when Apple’s Phil Schiller used the word “courage” to describe the decision to kill the 3.5mm jack.

Fans lit into Schiller and Apple for the word choice, saying courage is the character trait of firefighters or soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy.

Others turned their old Apple earbuds into art and satire to express rage over the idea that Apple would expect them to budget more money for adapters and expensive wireless earphones, dubbed AirPods.

Users can still plug into the Lighting port with new earphones or an adapter, but that did little to take down the temperature.

Based on the above Twitter comments I’m gonna assume that people aren’t fans of the removal of the headphone jack. My question though is how many people actually sit on the floor next to a wall outlet and listen to music while charging their iPhones? The cables are really short. If this is really a common practice then it seems to me that these individuals really should consider the services of a life coach. Or at the very least a nice set of Bluetooth headphones.

Probably should just move to Android if you don’t like it. It would allow the rest of us to enjoy the price reduction to meet less demand for their product. I haven’t used the headphone jack in years since I have been using Bluetooth headphones. So much easier on runs and so many other things.

Nothing to move over to! I am happily rocking an iPhone 6S & One Plus 3 for the next several years! Maybe by 2018 Apple will figure it out.

Charming how the die-hard Apple fa response is “if you don’t like it, but an Android”. I’ve bought every iPhone since the 3G was released in Australia, but have been slowing down my purchases since the 5S as the innovation is no longer there. The removal of the headphone jack seems to be change for change’s sake.

I’ve used Bluetooth headphones for a while now, and they are ok, but they do go flat pretty quickly if you’re using them all day. Also, the sound quality is not as good as wired headphones. Yes, there will be an adaptor, but why remove something that’s more universally used than probably any other type if port on a mobile device, and create an adaptor that makes your headphones bulkier? It just lacks logic, and makes an easy thing more complex for little benefit.

Lastly, everyone is going on about being plugged into a wall n using headphones, how stupid that is etc – what about using a backup battery n headphones at the same time? I do that a lot, especially at the gym, because of the battery life issues of modern smartphones. It’s disappointing that option is no longer possible without extra accessories to overcome the limitation of no headphone jack.

No, I won’t “go and buy an Android”, if that’s ok with you. . I’ll just stay with my iPhone 6

I hope the iPhone 7 sales tank because of this. F-en greed over sense.
