Yes, you read that correctly. Nintendo is finally bringing a Super Mario game to iPhone, it confirmed during Apple’s iPhone 7 keynote this morning.
It’s called Super Mario Run, and it’s designed specifically for touchscreen devices. It’s the first Mario game you can play one-handed, Nintendo says, and it will hit the App Store in time for the holidays this year.
Super Mario Run is much like the running games we’re all familiar with on iOS. Mario runs through each level automatically, and you use taps and swipes to make him jump, change direction, and stomp on his enemies.
The aim of the game is to beat each level and collect as many coins as you can on the way. There’s also a cool battle mode that lets you compete with friends to beat their highest scores and rewards you with toads when you’re successful.
Those toads then end up in your Mushroom Kingdom, and you can use the coins you’ve collected to customize it.
What’s great about Super Mario Run is that it will have no in-app purchases. Nintendo will charge an upfront cost and that’s all you’ll ever pay for the entire game. Lookout for Super Mario Run later this year!

OMG… This is the most pointless first 30 minutes of a keynote ever. Who cares about Mario and Pokemon?
Pokemon Go – most downloads of any app in the first week ever? The biggest mobile game in history? More daily users than Twitter? Quite a few people care. Doubt Nintendo or Apple are especially bothered that you don’t…
Thank you for your feedback. I will study it greatly and implement it in my future considerations.
Now I think there is a bow headed multicoloured Pokemon singing on stage… Someone quick… capture it! … and kill it !!
