Using your phone as a wireless hotspot can be a wince-worthy last resort as you consider how much of your data plan you’re gobbling. But with the Karma Go Hotspot, you can access the web wherever you are, without eating up your personal data plan.

It’ll add a buffer of 50GB to your personal Wi-FI connection, and right now you can get a Karma Go for only $199 at Cult of Mac Deals.

Karma Go hitches a ride on your existing cellular connection, adding 50GB of high-speed LTE data for the first month, with an option to renew or downgrade with pay-as-you-go data options. There are other options, too, like the ability to control who is able to get on your Karma Go by creating a private network. And you can connect all of your Wi-Fi-enabled devices, from Rokus and Nests to printers and smartwatches. And the Karma Go is small enough to fit in your pocket.

Buy now: Get the Karma Go for $199 — that’s a discount of 33 percent.

This is a very good deal. I am a Karma user from day one when they first started selling an older model nearly 3 years ago. I figure that I have saved close to $100 per year by paying for only what I use compared to the extra charge on most phone plans.

However, there is an inaccuracy (or poor wording) in the description above. The Karma does not piggyback on your existing cellular connection. It connects directly into the Verizon network usually at impressive speeds.
