Jon Bernthal (AMC’s The Walking Dead) is joining the cast of Netflix-exclusive superhero series Daredevil for the hit show’s second season.
And even better: He’s playing Frank Castle, better known as The Punisher.
Castle is an antihero who avenges the death of his family by shooting every mobster he sees. Bernthal follows Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV), Thomas Jane (The Mist) and Ray Stevenson (Thor) in live-action roles, but he isn’t the only Walking Dead alum to take on this ultraviolent character. Fan favorite Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon on the AMC series, voiced The Punisher in the 2013 animated film Iron Man: Rise of Technovore.
Judging from the newly released logo (above), Daredevil and the new guy won’t start out as the best of pals. Daredevil has this whole thing against killing people, and The Punisher has equally strong feelings about not killing people.
We’ll see how it all turns out when Daredevil‘s second season drops sometime in 2016. In the meantime, if you still haven’t seen the first batch of episodes, it may be time to crank up your Apple TV and check it out.
