It’s the weekend, which means it’s time to catch up on all of the hot new apps you might have missed throughout the week.
Twitter sets the live video world ablaze with Periscope, a couple great iPhone photography apps, the best way to calendar on the Mac, and some others made it into this week’s roundup.
Without further ado, here are this week’s awesome apps!
Take a photo of yourself everyday. That was the simple premise behind Everyday for iPhone four years ago, and it still is today.
This week indie developer William Wilkinson released version 2.0, a major overhaul that introduces a couple big features. First, the interface has been redesigned to fit the modern iOS aesthetic. There are multiple timelines, so you can take photos of yourself and your baby and have them separated. Daily reminders are smarter, and Dropbox backup support has been added.

Developer and designer Mike Rundle may be entering a crowded market with Filters, but he’s still managed to set his app apart.
Filters for iPhone is a photo editing app, which are a dime a dozen these days. But Filters gives over 800 effects to chose from, an offering most apps can’t make. You can chose from “fully adjustable authentic vintage film recreations, hand-painted textures, vibrant colored gel overlays, special multi-effect adjustments (Shine, Luna, Color Boost, Intimidate and Smart Fade) as well as standard image adjustment tools like brightness, contrast, color temperature, exposure and more.”
It’s a lot to take in, but it helps that the app is gorgeous to look at and intuitively designed. The best part? Only $0.99 for everything. No in-app purchases.

Staying with the photography side of the App Store, Over released a big update this week that allows you to put PNGs on photos.
The feature lets you easily add branding, logos, watermarks, custom artwork, images from the web, etc. overtop pictures from your Camera Roll.
If you haven’t heard of it, Over provides a lot of customization options already, including a rich library of custom fonts, for adding text to photos.
Available on: iPhone/iPad
Price: $1.99 (with additional fonts available for in-app purchase)

In our original review of Napkin, we called it an essential Mac app for editing and annotating images.
After this week’s 1.5 update, that’s more the case than ever before.
Designed for OS X Yosemite, the interface is much cleaner now. Napkin also has support for third-party app extensions, which means it will be easier to quickly import images from all kinds of places.
Feature wise, you can finally crop images and screenshots directly in the app. The Pixelate and Blur make it easy to redact sensitive information, you can paste to match the style of text, and much more.
