If you’re anything like me, no matter how much evidence has mounted that Apple is indeed planning a gold iPhone 5S, you’ve had a hard time believing it. Gold in a gadget usually turns it into gaudy, undignified bling, more appropriate for a Saudi oil baron or diamond-toothed rapper than, say, the pocket of Jony Ive.
It looks like I needn’t have worried. Apple may be planning on making a gold iPhone 5S, but as you can see from the image above (you can see it in the middle), it’s a very tasteful affair… more champagne, or even platinum, than anything else. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that if I were going to buy a new iPhone 5S, I might even opt for that color.
There are more images below the fold. What do you think?

doesn’t look nearly as bad as some goofs were mockingly saying.
I like how the boarders are gold, but that’s it. The black still looks the best. They should of made it a darker black though instead of keeping it the same.
I’d still rather have the ability to design a case with custom sports logos and colors.
Not as bad as I had thought. I wouldn’t buy one myself, but I’m glad it’s not the “yellow” gold everyone was expecting.
It’s not bad at all, though I do agree that the black is the nicest. To be honest it really isn’t going to matter what color I get since I’m just going to stick it into a case anyway.
Don’t know how well the “gold” color is reproduced in the photo, but if I hadn’t heard all the hype about the supposed coming gold i-Phone, I would never call that color gold. Light yellow, maybe … or cream … but never gold.
Not saying it’s not a nice color … but it ain’t gold.
And what is with the top and bottom not being solid color. That looks terrible.
I’m upgrading to the 5S, because it’s free (long story), as I’ve done every year since switching to iPhone at the 3GS. I’m going to do the same as I did with the 4 and 4S. I had the black 4 and then a white 4S. I loved them both! They had different personalities, so to speak, and they were equally as appealing. So I once again got the black/”slate” iPhone 5 and looking at white iPhone 5’s at my local Apple Store the other day, I was literally excited about getting the white 5S, as it’s going to look the same again otherwise.
Now with the introduction of this gold/yellow-ish/cream(y?) color, depending on how I like it and if it’s available in 16GB or 32GB variants(!), I might get it instead of the white one, which “m pretty much set on. If it’s going to be marketed as a prestige symbol and made “only available in 128GB” or for $1,000 or something like that, I’m getting the white one and call BS. Although I do not mind status symbols – I can be perfectly pretentious when it benefits me. :D
I personally wish we would get a bigger screen. I really do. But I can wait a year, because apparently that’s how it either works, or can only work, with “major” upgrades to iPhones (and iPads, too, actually) every 2 years…right? lol
Yep… that’s just to tacky for my blood… love my black iPhone 5!
That isn’t the gold color, that looks more like the ‘graphite’ color posted today minus the black trim pieces: http://sonnydickson.com/2013/08/26/behold-first-part-leaks-grey-graphite-iphone-5s/
