The world of djing has changed quite a bit since the iPhone and iPad. Companies like Algoriddim released djay, a popular DJ app that has won an Apple Design Award. DJ controllers have started interfacing with these kinds of apps, but a new product called the Vestax Spin 2 is the world’s first MIDI controller created exclusively for djay and vjay, Algoriddim’s two iOS and Mac apps.
Developed as a joint effort between Vestax and Algoriddim, the Spin 2 is a portable, studio-grade mixer and controller with touch-sensitive jogwheels, sample pads, and strip touch control. The controller works with both djay and vjay, Algoriddim’s music and video mixing apps. The Spin 2 can be setup to work with an iPhone, iPad, and Mac running the software.
Some features:
- Charges iOS device while you play
- Compact and lightweight body, ideal for portability
- Touch-sensitive jog wheels: scratch, bend, scrub
- Strip Touch control for easy in-track searching
- Hot cues, looping, and sample pads
- Dedicated filter and FX controls
- Built-in multi-channel audio interface for output and pre-cueing (Mac and iOS)
The Spin 2 is available exclusively from the Apple Store for $350.

It works with DJ Player as well, which extends this unit with 6 cue/loop points per deck and momentary reverse. http://djplayerapp.com
