We figured that Apple was going to charge a stupid amount of money for the Lightning to 30-pin Adapter. We were thinking somewhere between $15-$20, but turns out Apple is going to charge 30 bucks just so your iPhone 5 can have fun with all your old accessories.
It feels like extortion, but maybe the production cost of the adapter is pretty high. Maybe Apple’s charging so much because they don’t want you to buy it so you’ll buy new accessories and cables instead so they’ll make even more money. Maybe we’re overreacting. Who knows?

Apple aren’t going to be charging 30 bucks. They’re going to be charging $29! You guys are misleading people.
Wait I thought it was $29 for (3) adapters (per the rumors) but its for (1). Seriously Apple talk about gouging your consumers as usual.
On the apple website the fine print says “video and iPod out are not supported.” does this mean I can’t play music through my speaker dock with the adapter?
Really hoped that this be given away as a free accessory. Cmon Apple
taxes? I know that is Apple + Government, but honestly $30 is the same, in my mind as $29 :P
That can’t be true. If video and music aren’t supported through the adapter, what’s the point of even creating an adapter.
It IS extortion! Typical Apple RIP OFF!
I’ll wait a couple of months and buy one on eBay from Hong Kong for $4.00
High cost is to cover the conversion of the 6 adaptive digital pins to the 30 old pins… Hence they are also not currently selling a simple cable adapter and why that adapter is rather large.
Add the words adaptive digital to most things and I’m sure it will increase the price. $10-15 is probably better than the price from their usual margin.
