The new iPhone will be released in September and already we’ve seen a couple carriers and retailers drop the price on the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS below the standard contract price.

Apple’s website is still selling at the standard prices, but according to some informers, Apple Store employees have now been authorized to price match discounts from other retail locations.

MacRumors reports that Apple Store employees will discount the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S  to match competitors when requested by customers. Customers can get a $49.01 discount on both the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S to match offers made by BestBuy, Radio Shack, Target and Sprint.

The report says that consumers will likely need to cite the source offering the low pricing in order for Apple to honor the price match. Even if you’re not interested in the new iPhone and are thinking about purchasing a new iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S, it might be wise to wait a few weeks more. Apple usually drops the price of the last iPhone model by $100 when they release a new iPhone.
