Mountain Lions are magnificent beasts. Sure, they’re not as huge as a real lion, or as exotic as tigers with their fancy stripes, but that doesn’t mean they’re not as cool. In fact, Mountain Lions are vicious killing machines and cuddly at the same time. Plus, they jump like really high. We love these big cute cats, so to celebrate the launch of OS X Mountain Lion, here are 15 reasons why mountain lions are awesome:

I’m sure playing with other feline species in a house isn’t in their forte. The lion would eat that cat for sleeping on it’s head and leave a blood trail.
Even a Lynx wouldn’t tolerate being a domestic pet. They’d become hostage terrorists.
Cute.
best review!
Seeing the one where he’s sleeping on the cactus reminds me of the “Watch out! We got a badass over here!” meme. lol
And they kill the Antichrist: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodland_Critter_Christmas
Mountain Lions (aka Cougar) are indeed awesome. However, just to be nit picky: the cat on the cactus is a bobcat, and the one on the rock ledge is a lynx pretty sure. They are awesome as well. Maurice Hornocker, one of the foremost experts says he once saw a cougar carrying a deer in its mouth, jump straight up 15 feet into an oak tree. They are the strongest and most agile cat pound for pound of any!
OS X Mountain Lion is pretty awesome as well!
Funny, being raised in the Bay Area, I had the interesting experience of meeting a cougar kitten in a pet shop in Mountain View where I spent my formative years, it was quiet strong, looked sort of like #3/4, strong like a dog w/very sharp teeth. I then met a retired Mercury Cougar whose paws were as large as dinner plates. and finally one on a leash in one the the East Bay parks who was not friendly at all, and totally out of it’s natural setting.
I thought it was amusing then, there is a culture in CA of owning these types of pets and of course as we have encroached on their environment, they pay a dear price with their lives.
I’ll appreciate pics of them and in fact shared this on my FB page as both a feline and Mac lover, Bernese Mt. dogs too!
I’d like to know (other then the new OSX’s name) what this has to do with mac news…..
Pretty much nothing. But don’t act like your heart didn’t explode from all the cuteness of these amazing felines
Just FYI, the cactus photo is of a Bobcat, not a mountain lion.
I guess there are only 14 reasons why Mountain Lions are awesome.
Make that 13.. the climb up on rocks one is not likely a mountain lion either. Looks more like a lynx.
Two bobcats and an ocelot are awesome as well it seems.
