Apple’s Flyover feature in the new iOS 6 Maps app gives users are really cool way to explore their favorite cities by looking at 3D renderings of major metropolitan areas. You can zoom in and out to view buildings in greater detail kind of like you’re really there. Right now there are a limited number of cities that Apple has created 3D renders of, but here’s a look at all the cities currently supporting Flyover in the new Maps app.
Apple HQ in Cupertino
Chicago
Copenhagen
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
Miami
Montreal
Sacramento
San Francisco
Seattle
Sydney
The current number of cities Apple has rendered in 3D is pretty paltry and we’re hoping they get a lot more completed before iOS 6 launches. Is there a city we’re missing in the gallery? Let us know in the comments and we’ll add it to the gallery.

London, Paris…!?
Stockholm!
Las Vegas is in 3d!
yeah add Las Vegas, and Cupertino to your list.
I want London, Paris, Madrid, and Boston. Actually Stockholm would be nice, too. And Washington DC.
What about Belfast or Dublin?
I think it’s funny (and cool since I live here) that they included Sacramento, since it is the capitol of California where Apple is based, so it makes sense.
What about some place in India or China or Africa?
Montréal but no Toronto? Or Vancouver?
London, Paris, Peckham…
No NYC, no London, No Paris, no Mexico City or Sao Paulo, no Tokyo, but be sure to get Sacramento in there. Wouldn’t want to miss out on a flyover of exciting, amazing ol’ Sac, now would we…
It’s not a ‘Capitol’, it’s a ‘Capital’.
That is a feeble effort. No London? No Paris? No Rome? In fact not a single European city?? No Street View either which is being yanked to be replaced with this inferior version. We lose Street View because of Apple’s hubristic attitude and European users get flyovers of American cities??? Useless. Pretty pathetic.
Fiercehairdo, what about Copenhagen, Denmark? In Northern Europe?
Oops! Oh yes of course. Still, it is a very poor show nevertheless. Especially as I say since we are losing Street View which has coverage all over Europe, and not just cities.
Missed Copenhagen there…so ONE European city. Still not good enough though.
New York, Boston, Atlanta, Tampa, Washington DC, London, Edinburgh, Dublin, Paris, Tokyo, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Berlin, Moscow, Ottawa, Mexico City, Vancouver, San Diego, Twin Cities, Barcelona, Athens, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Marseille, Oslo, Copenhagen, Dubai, Mumbai, Sydney, Canberra, Singapore, Beijing — so many cities to cover! At very least there should be flyovers of each nation’s capital city, followed by world’s most populated cities. It’s going to be a huge amount of work for Apple, but they have the cash to do it. It will be an amazing piece of tech to be able to explore the world right from iOS — but then they’ll have to keep it current, which will be an enormous job in itself. They’ll need a fleet of automated drones ceaselessly cruising the planet, updating their databases constantly.
Are you nuts? How the hell do you expect Apple … or any other company … to complete fly-over mapping of all these cities in such a short period of time. You’re either very young or very stupid.
MELBOURNE IS IN 3D TOO!!!
SAN DIEGO!
Hasn’t anyone thought that Apple might be saving up a load of cities for the iOS 6 consumer launch and iPhone launch? London, Paris and NYC will be great cities for them to get people hyped on, probably Tokyo and hong kong too along with lots of cities in all of the Siri countries.
Shocker. The Nation’s Capital, Washington, DC, is not part of the 3D maps. I’m sure the President of the United States is upset the White House was not included in the 3D mapping technology first. Way to go Apple.
Melbourne is so much better than Sydney.
NEW YORK CITY!
…Philadelphia, Boston, DC, Baltimore …Rome, Florence
Melbourne in Australia is also supported by the way..
I’m not sure if Melbourne was recently added or already was supported, but it’s good to see it expanding :-)
They’ve added Philadelphia.
Umm. Houston, New York, London and Rio de janeiro
London is available, just search “big ben” and you will get flyover of it. Paris is not available, which is stupid.
Yosemite National Park has flyover. It’s not a city, but if you want to add it, it has it.
And the Grand Canyon.
To Buster: you’re missing Boston, London (it was shown in the Apple Event), Rome, and Barcelona (beautiful) to name a few cities. Is Apple adding these cities?
There is central London, I’ve just spent 2 hours plying with it. And Manhattan. Clearly this post isn’t a comprehensive list (so maybe people should do a bit more research before whining)
