i heard that all the Apple Stores also turned off the lights in their Apple logos (since they don’t have flags)
Masts are on ships. Those are staffs. The flags are flying at half-STAFF.
The US flag should not be at half staff unless ordered so by the President, a US President or ex-President has died. Similarly, the State of California flag should not be at half staff unless the US flag is at half staff OR the Governor of California has ordered it there.
Unless those things have occurred, the only flag at half staff should be the Apple corporate one.I understand the honor that Apple wishes to give their leader, but…(see the US Flag Code, summarized here http://www.ushistory.org/betsy…
This is not proper flag etiquette.
This is a violation of the US Flag Code which says that only the President or a state governor can order the US Flag to be lowered to half staff, not any military commander, city mayor or corporate executive. Lowering the corporate flag would have been appropriate.
