We’ve all heard that the iPhone 5 will have a thinner design than the current model, but how much thinner are we talking about? If any of these Chinese iPhone 5 cases leaking out of Hong Kong are anything to go by, about half as thick, but quite a bit larger.

Not sure whether I would like iPhone that much bigger than the current generation: Even the “4” isn’t exactly small, HPs (recently deceased) “Veer” is the size I would like to see running iOS ;)
Don’t worry, you can easily replicate that by putting an iPhone 4 in a 3G case and bingo, more pictures to substantiate ridiculously unsubstantiated rumors.
If you want an iPhone with bigger screen, just get yourself an iPad.
I personally think that this is a case for the new iPod Touch. Its just a gut feeling I have, there are a couple things like the vibrate/mute switch and speakers showing that aren’t usually on an iPod Touch but its just a feeling I have. Also I don’t know how they would fit a high quality 8 megapixel 1080p shooting camera into something that thin. And I could be crazy noticing that the big case doesn’t have a cut out for the Apple logo. I’m sure not all iPhone cases have the Apple logo cut out but I haven’t seen any that haven’t had the cut out.
I’m not saying the new iPhone won’t have a bigger screen and be thinner profile because I do think it will be a new design and hope it has a new design.

I agree. My first thought was that was likely an iPod Touch case. Also, and it’s been said before, why would Apple go back to a rounded edges design? They’ve moved past that, they aren’t going to go back to it.
No, not all cases have the cutout. Most, but not all.
“They’ve moved past that” I agree, although going to a slim, rounded case is the way the iPad has gone, the brick-like design (IMHO) will be a thing of the past soon.
Well there’s no proof they are putting in a high quality 8MP 1080p camera so you can’t really use that as evidence
but on a similar thought, what about all the parts you do have to put in. Like the 3g chipset and antenna along with the battery, the compass etc. Can all that fit in a thin little design. My gut is telling me no so I’m not buying this design as legit until Apple calls it. And I won’t be shocked if they don’t. Especially since there have been photos claiming to be the iPhone 5 and it looks just like the 4 but with the screen stretched to practically the edge

Why is everyone so obsessed with making devices thinner? The iPhone 4 is perfect.
My old second gen iPod Touch I had a case on pretty much just because of the added width…
If it keeps getting thinner, maybe it will eventually be thin enough to wrap around your wrist when you’re not using it, where you can use it as a wristwatch!
