I was always a sucker for those first-person dungeon crawlers from the 80s — games like Dungeon Master, The Bard’s Tale and even the first Phantasy Star game for the Sega Master System — so I’m positively drooling over this footage of the upcoming Legend of Grimrock.
Sure, it’s footage from the PC version of the game, but it’s coming to iPad too, and should look just about as good. Sadly, though, there’s no release details short of “before the end of the year.”

Fuck yourself John Brownlee.
That was amazing. Too bad I don’t have an iPad, though I suppose I could break down and buy the PC version. The creature animations were incredible, and the overall layout of the game was modern Dungeon Master all the way.

Those dungeons hire some good floor cleaners, look how dust and debris free they are, right up to the crisp intersection with the walls.

Too bad the video is from the PC version.
So like Doom meets EverQuest 1? Looks like they need to take some notes from Infinity Blade.
Why? If they wanted to make a game like Infinity Blade I’m sure they could have, but obviously that wasn’t the goal. There is more than one way to make a good RPG.
I guess of nostalgia is the goal with this app, it is achieved.
Without trying to second guess the author, I would imagine that being the driving force behind this game.
I love Dungeon Master and Chaos strikes Back. Best Dungeon crawlers ever. Will try to reanimate my Atari ST to play it again. ;)
Threw me back to my younger days playing Might & Magic 2… great days :)
