It’s looking increasingly likely as the weeks go on that Apple’s fifth-generation iPhone will launch this September, and strengthening all that speculation is a new report that claims AT&T is now beginning to communicate launch plans to its staff.
According to a report from Boy Genius Report, who has a “proven source,” AT&T is informing its staff to be ready for a busy September:
We have been told that AT&T has begun informing employees across the company, and those who work in retail locations, to finish any sort of employee training as soon as possible. AT&T is asking managers to finish training in order to have employees available for the influx of foot traffic expected in September, a proven source has shared with us.
It’s promising news for those clinging on to hopes of a new iPhone this year, however, there’s no concrete confirmation here that the iPhone 5 is on its way.
I don’t mean to dismiss BGR or its source, and I’m a firm believer that the iPhone 5 will be here come September, but could it be that AT&T is merely speculating like the rest of us and preparing itself just in case? Recently at their quarterly earnings call, even Verizon’s CEO said that they had anticipated the iPhone 5 in summer instead of autumn. Could AT&T just be guessing as well?

Aah it’s the Batman building!! I live right by Nashville so this is an awesome picture to me(:
Course ‘as soon as possible’ could also mean that the influx hits in August.
They are likely guessing September like everyone else. But depending on when in September it would still technically be Summer (which ends on Sept 21). Even if you go with the common usage, if they released it Labor Day weekend (deemed the end of ‘summer’ since schools typically start the following Tuesday) they are still in keeping with the Verizon comments
When you see sources showing you the screen shots from Apple’s materials out of that retail training ipad thing they are supposedly using, then we can start calling it for sure. Especially if one of the shots has September in the text

I got $31.68 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Dell laptop for $95.84 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $53.79 to get. Here is the website we are using to get all this stuff GrabPenny.com
Thought it looked more like the Eye of Sauron.

I had Apple Customer Support tell me that getting the iPhone 4 would be putting myself behind the curve. She told me to wait for the iPhone 5 at the end of Aug. Not sure if that’s true but that’s what I got from Apple Customer Care’s phone line.
Yeah, I live in Murfreesboro. I love seeing this building and LP field when crossing the huge bridge to Nashville.
I find it funny that I can go into some bars on Broadway and be less than 100 yards from that building but have no service.
Yep, that is the “Batman Building” as it is affectionately known by in Nashville, aka, the AT&T Building – what was the Bell South Building before AT&T and Bell South re-combined.
The usual idea is that you would use NFC to set up the link between the two devices and then do an automatic hand over to a different protocol for doing the actual transfer of data – eg Bluetooth, iphone 5
