Security Expert: “Mac OS X Is Safer, But Less Secure”

20100319-ipwned.jpg

Tech site H-Online has an interesting story today, quoting security expert Charlie Miller about his forthcoming talk at the CanSecWest conference next week.
He says OS X is full of security holes. There are lots more than in Windows, he claims.
And yet: OS X is a safer system to use. Why? Because, in the words [...]

Apple Devotes Entire Home Page To Jerome York Obituary

20100318-york.jpg

If ever you needed a sign that Apple was a different kind of technology company, this is it.
What other computer manufacturer would remove its top-selling, hype-inducing, industry-altering new product from the prime spot on its website home page, and replace it with an obituary to an investor?
This is one of those “Here’s to the [...]

Why Brian Loves His Mac More Than His PC

Brian Hines has made a little video that sums up almost everything you might ever want to say to potential switchers from Windows to Mac OS X. They might be asking themselves what makes the Mac experience so much better, and if it’s worth the investment of time and money to get started on a new system that might be alien to them.

Thing is, says Brian (and most of you reading this know it already — but maybe you know people like Brian, or the people he made the video for, and you might want to make the point to them) the Mac is simply a superior machine with a superior operating system.

The Mac is “pretty slick”, he says. The PC is “much cruder”. The software supplied with the Mac provides almost everything you might need (although he would appear to have invested in iWork, and added Firefox alongside Safari).

Brian concludes with this: “If you want to believe that the Mac is a much more pleasant machine to use, that’s absolutely the truth.”

Exactly.

Not that Mac wouldn’t always win on a Mac-vs-PC comparison, but this one is WAY too biased…Comparing an IBM that might as well be 3-4 years old and is fully loaded with tons of apps (and probably a huge registry packed with useless enries) to a brand new out-of-the-box Macbook…well, it’s just not right.

That really wasn’t a fair comparison. He should have compared the MacBook with a PC notebook from this decade.

I wonder what the specs are of the PC laptop? That was way too slow for a windows XP bootup. Either that laptop is messed or its pretty old!

I am a Mac user and I still think OS X is sluggish compared to Windows XP. OS X feels alot like Vista, they both lag and move slowly.

The launch of most apps on OS X is slow as well…..Safari and TextEdit are quick but about about the only ones that are. The rest like Firefox, Adobe Apps, Office, iLife, etc are slow at launching.

But the above movie isn’t worth watching…..a new macbook against and old PC laptop.

I’m still an OS X and Mac fan though and recommend them to anyone, but Windows XP should start alot faster than that. Not a fair comparison.

I love macs. I have MBP and iPhone. But this is just a mac funboy bullshit. Sorry. As Alex said in this video we see old old IBM Thinkpad compared to new MB.

The title says “Why I love *my* MacBook more than *my* PC”.
Nobody ever claimed that this is a true review ;-)

You need to change the article title to:

Why Brian Loves His Mac More Than His old old IBM thinkpad.

Ignoring the startup times, this guy hits the nail right on the head. The Mac is a better experience and using the Winblows is just crude. A well done video.

    Worst…cultofmac story…evar

Wow… 6:44 of rambling? Really? You could probably sum all of this up in 1:00 or less.

True, it could have been more concise, but for a guy holding a digital camera in one hand and trying to compute with the other, not bad.
