More and more information is coming out, suggesting how an expected iPad 2 might look or perform. Now comes word Apple may ship three versions of the updated tablet, adding a CDMA model to the already available Wi-Fi and 3G.

According to a Taiwan-based industry publication citing unnamed sources, production on the iPad 2 could begin as early as the second-half of January with Apple shipping between 500,000 to 530,000 units next month.

Judging by 60 to 65 percent of the iPad 2 using 3G for wireless connections, Apple appears to be listening to consumer preference for a constant Internet connection. The decision to concentrate on 3G also means Apple will need to work closer with carriers, possibly why a CDMA model has been added to the mix. Already, many expect Apple will announce in early 2011 a CDMA version of the iPhone 4 designed for Verizon.

The iPad 2, which reportedly should take over from the original iPad sometime after January, could account for 65 percent to 75 percent of worldwide tablet sales, according to the Tuesday report.
