Man with iPhone Rage Threatens to Use Gun at Apple Store

Frustrated iPhone owner Donald Goodrich. @HCSO
There’s frustration over stuff like dropped calls and tethering troubles, then, you know, there’s Frustration.
The latter was apparently what fueled Donald Goodrich, 38, to threaten to pull a gun on his iPhone at the Kenwood Towne Centre Apple Store in Cinncinati.
Goodrich came in with an iPhone that wasn’t working properly, telling the employee he was “So mad, I could pop a 9mm at it.”
To prove he meant business, Goodrich flashed the employee a gun hidden under his jacket.
The cool-headed employee told Goodrich she’d get his phone fixed and walked him over to a Genius. She then told her manager of his iHomicidal intentions, who called police.
Goodrich was charged with aggravated menacing, causing fear of harm to an Apple employee. He’s expected to be arraigned this morning.
No word on exactly what drove him to want to kill his phone.
Any guesses?

No Flash support? I know I want to pop a cap in my iPhone when it gives me those stupid blue cubes instead of Flash. J/K!

Oh my, I was about to drive up to kenwood that same day. Probably a good thing that I didn’t with that loon running around.

Well, if the guy had a legal concealed-carry permit, he doesn’t now.
But the charges sound a bit overboard to me. Does Apple post ‘no firearms allowed’ signs?

doesn’t matter Chris. a permit to carry, even concealed, isn’t a permit to flash it about particularly while enraged. and double when you express that you will use it in a tone that suggests that after the phone, you might put a cap in the employee that didn’t fix it. which could be the case here

While I admire her courage I wonder how the genius felt after they had been told the guy had a gun in his waistband and he had threatened to murder his iPhone so I gave him to you while I ran for a manager.
Thanks for nothing….

FREE DONALD GOODRICH! This week my new iPhone stopped working for the second time in a month – once again when I was on the road – and I was horribly inconvenienced for several days. Luckily for me, I don’t own a gun. I say, free Donald now and throw the iPhone team into jail in his place.

If he can’t get the arched John Belushi eyebrow thing fixed, will he be shooting himself in the head?
