‘Full Charge Alert’ Notifies You When Your Device is Charged

As jailbreak tweaks go, this one is probably the most simple, but it’s also rather handy. It’s never a good idea to continue to charge a battery way beyond its full charge, and this tweak ensures it doesn’t happen by alerting you when your device’s battery is full.

Full Charge Alert, available through Cydia now for $1.25, is accessible via your device’s Settings app once installed and can be configured to sound one of 40 alerts when your device reaches its full charge. It’s easy to turn the tweak on or off, and you can set it to display a message, sound an alert, and/or vibrate.

Although it’s an incredibly simple feature, Full Charge Alert is a great example of the wide variety of little tweaks available from jailbreaking that can enhance the iOS experience; from changing the look and feel of the OS, to native photo uploading to Facebook, and apps that hide your crafty tethering usage from your carrier.

As you may find out by a fast look on Apple’s site and forums you can see that overcharging your device when battery is fully charged is totally harmless. In fact according to Apple there isn’t any way to harm your battery as many people still think. And that’s why because old style batteries had that kind of issues (nickel batteries). So all that pretty much make that tweak almost useless. And c’mon a dollar plus for that?

This has always been my understanding as well. The big thing is to make sure that you’re draining your battery regularly, recharging at around 20%.

Battery Doctor Pro is just as good (if not better), only costs 99 cents, and you don’t have to jailbreak your phone to get it :)

Lithium ion/polymer batteries all have circuitry which stops charging once a full charge is reached. This app is a complete waste of time unless you simply want to know when your device is fully charged and you don’t want to have to look at the screen to make that determination.

There’s a reason I didn’t post an article about this tweak… Completely useless. Why would anybody pay $1.25 for this junk? Reminds me of all the other useless paid tweaks in Cydia.
