Journalists Cover Microsoft, Using Macs

It’s not an easy time for Microsoft — with Steve Ballmer having to field questions about being “buffoons” and an “evil empire”  at the shareholder’s meeting (.doc) — so when they get together “the world’s most influential technology pundits and online writers” (nb: we weren’t invited) for Mobius to discuss super-secret mobile tech you’d think [...]

Review: Voices Is Today’s Best Thing Ever, Grab It Now While It’s Cheap

New on the App Store is Voices from the clever folk at Tap Tap Tap. You can guess what it does.

Open it up, pick a silly voice. Helium is pretty silly. A microphone appears and the app even clears your throat for you (try it, you’ll see what I mean). Now speak your brains, and [...]

Review: Sony Walkman S540 Series Video MP3 Player

Press releases, you will hardly be surprised to hear, are rarely very interesting. But one arrived in my inbox a couple of weeks ago that made me double-take.
“Sony’s S Series Walkman,” it chattered, “is a serious challenger to the iPod Nano.” Gosh, really? Perhaps the Cult had better have a look at one, then, despite [...]

Easy Access: Salma Hayek’s Mobile Me Account Breached

salma

Call it hacking, or just common sense: getting into actress Salma Hayek’s Mobileme account was apparently as easy as knowing her birthday and her favorite starring role.

An anonymous post on imageboard 4chan.org  provided MobileMe login details for Hayek:

Go to me.com, forgot password, type shayek@mac.com
Her //snip//
Answer to change password question is: //snip//

Voilà: a peek at Hayek’s iPhone apps downloaded from iTunes — including restaurant finder Urbanspoon,  Shazam and the Say Who voice recognition dialer — plus emails from uber-magnate husband François-Henri Pinault and an invite to America Ferrera’s 25th birthday party.

Wonder if iPhone loving twitterer Ashton Kutcher’s next…

    Puerto Rican!

I know you didn’t do this. I know these details were listed elsewhere. But did you have to reprint them here? I’m not even sure if this article deserved any more attention. We may find this amusing because it happened to a celebrity, but I’m not sure you’d be happy if it happened to you or any of us for that matter. Shame, shame, shame…

HA HA this is prity funny, its crazy how easy it is to get into someones account. Would be good to get into Ashtons account and punk him.

    Tom

I don’t know what to say to this post, I’m wracking my brain trying to think of ways to express my disappointment — no, my anger — at your publishing of these personal details.
You could have written a post telling us that a) Salma Hayek’s account was breached, and b) we should use strong passwords, etc.
Instead, you not only published the details of what was found by breaching her account, but you actually told us HOW TO DO IT!
This is beyond the pale, inexcusable, and the sort of thing you’d expect to find on a gossip blog or teen’s MySpace page. I’m flabbergasted at this entry and hope I’m not the only one.

Wooo! Invasion of privacy of a celebrity with her log on details!

    This post is disgusting.

Seriously, find something worthwhile to post. I’m sure you would love your log on information posted for the world to see (I mean, it’s only fair, right? To treat others as you would like to be treated…Sound familiar?). This is no better then what those tabloids report.

    Nice work!

    thats not nice…

I don’t think Nicole posted those credentials with any malicious intent. I suspect, she, like all of us have at one time or another, just copied and pasted factual information for her article.

Heck, reading it, I didn’t even consider that the credentials as posted might still be usable.

You even posted her email address as a mailto link. Way to bless her with even more spam. You suck.
