DIY Acrylic iPhone Dock A Clear Winner
10:14 am, July 23rd, 2009, Nicole Martinelli

Tod Kurt put together this clean, clear iPhone dock from four pieces of acrylic scraps. He was inspired to create it after buying a case that wouldn’t work with traditional docks. More details and close-up pic after the jump.

He says of his clear confection: “it’s made of four slices of 1/4″ acrylic (actual width 0.22″). The top two slices have an oval opening just snug enough to fit the iPod connector and keep it in place… It’s held together by four 1″ 2-56 machine screws with nuts. I was a little concerned with the nuts scratching the table, so I’ve since added little hot glue feet to the bottom of each nut.”

What’s up with the short RSS feed? I could read the full post through Google Reader until yesterday, but not anymore. There’s advertising in every single post, so why would you make us click in every post now? Maybe you have some good reason, but, seriously, that kind of thing made me stop reading way too many sites, unfortunately.
Hope it’s a bug or something.

david, it’s not a bug — it’s on purpose. we’re trying out the summary feed to see if a significant number of readers click over on the stories they want to read. a ton of readers get the site through RSS, and frankly, we need to record that traffic on the site. traffic=revenue, and we have to make money or we won’t be able to keep producing. hope you understand. if there’s howls of protest, we’ll go back to the old way of doing it.

Howling in protest! I’m not a fan of the summary feed. I’ve deleted more than one feed because of it. The way I figure it, I’ve already expressed inteterest in your feed by signing up. Why ask me again if I want read each article? Is there a way to give ppl a choice between summary and full feeds?
