What other computer manufacturer would remove its top-selling, hype-inducing, industry-altering new product from the prime spot on its website home page, and replace it with an obituary to an investor?
This is one of those “Here’s to the [...]

Daily Deals: More MacBooks, XServe G4s and App Store Bargains

We have two new deals on 13-inch MacBooks, including from the Apple Store. Also on tap today is a 1.33GHz Dual Xserve, plus a number of items from the iTunes App Store.

For details on these and other Apple-related products (such as Sony’s S-AIRPLAY iPod Dock), check out CoM’s “Daily Deals” page after the jump.

The Apple Store has seven factory-refurbished previous-generation and current-generation MacBook notebooks in its Special Deals section. (Click “MacBook” on the left to find them.) [All are at lowest-we-could-find prices and come with a 1-year Apple warranty, the same as new Macs.] Sales tax is added where applicable. Items are removed from Apple’s site when they sell out. Notables, each with free shipping (updated):

Apple MB466LL/A MacBook Core 2 Duo 2GHz 13.3″ in Aluminum for $899
Apple MB467LL/A MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz 13.3″ in Aluminum with 250GB HDD for $999

TechRestore.com offers the refurbished Apple Xserve G4 1.33GHz Dual Server with 512MB RAM, 60GB hard drive, CD-ROM, and Mac OS X 10.3 Server with 10-user licenses for $599.99. (With free shipping, that’s the lowest price we could find for an Xserve with this configuration.) A 90-day TechRestore warranty applies. Other notable Xserve deals:

Refurbished Apple Xserve G5 2GHz Dual Server for $899.99
refurbished Apple Xserve Intel 2GHz Dual Server for $1,699.99

The iTunes App Store offers downloads of ngmoco’s Topple 2 Plus+ for iPhone and iPod touch for free. [For comparison, Topple 2 (not the "Plus+" version) costs 99 cents.] (The “Plus+” adds network sharing of scores.) This game is a sequel to Topple, which is also free.

SonyStyle.com offers its factory-refurbished Sony S-AIRPLAY iPod Dock with Two Wireless Speakers, model no. AIR-SA20PK, for $139.96. (With free shipping, that’s $27 under last month’s mention of a new unit and the lowest total price we’ve ever seen for this system.) Sales tax is added where applicable. This system lets you share your iPod music throughout your home or office with two wireless receivers/speakers. The dock recharges most players (not the curved screen iPod nano, 2nd generation iPod touch, or iPhone 3G/3GS) and includes an AM/FM tuner. A 90-day Sony warranty applies.

Small Dog Electronics offers dealmac readers the Apple Time Capsule 1TB, model no. MB277LL/A, for $219.99 with free shipping. (That’s $30 off and the lowest total price we’ve seen. Apple’s Time Capsule is an 802.11n Wi-Fi base station with a built-in hard drive.) It’s geared towards Apple’s notebook line of computers that wish to use Time Machine.

PC Micro Store knocks 50% off select Apple iPod touch accessories via coupon code “Dealnews50%Touch”. (With free shipping, it’s one of the best discounts we’ve seen on these items from PCMS.) A best bet is the 2nd-generation PCMS Apple iPod touch Clear Case (pictured) for $6.47 after discount. Coupon expires after 150 redemptions.

The iTunes App Store offers downloads of Intersog’s Pocket MBA for iPhone for free. (That’s a $30 drop and the best deal we’ve seen for such a business reference.)

User ratings suggest that this app is incompatible with the iPod touch.

Several iPhone and iPod touch applications available from the iTunes App Store have recently dropped in price. Each is the best deal we’ve seen on that title. The deals:

FoodScanner for 99 cents (pictured, $2 off): RedLaser barcode scanner for food
Boxi for 99 cents ($2 off): Box-sliding puzzle game
Word Jam for 99 cents ($1 off): Word-finding game
Ultimate Football for 99 cents ($1 off): Football news-tracker
Billing: Credit Card Terminal for 99 cents ($19 off): Credit card billing
SquatFu for $1.99 ($1 off): Athletic squat training
Myst for $4.99 ($5 off): Classic game remake
Eternity Time Log for $6.99 ($3 off): Billings and time management

Today only, the iTunes App Store offers downloads of Monkey Wrench Games’s Kids vs. Zombies for iPhone / iPod touch for free. (That’s a $2 drop and the best deal we’ve seen for this zombie-slaying game.)

TranscendStore via Buy.com offers the Transcend StoreJet 320GB Shockproof USB 2.0 Portable 2.5″ External Hard Drive, model no. TS320GSJ25M, for $69.99 with free shipping ($0.22/GB).
