Microsoft’s My Documents Folder Makes Triumphant Return – On iPad

20100209-mydocuments.jpg

Earlier today, I was reading Infoworld’s article, The iPad questions Apple won’t answer. The first question they listed was “Can you save and transfer documents to the iPad?”, and their assumed answer was “No”; they suggested that the only way to do this would be to open a document from an email message.
I read that [...]

Opinion: MacBook, or iMac + iPad?

20100208-imacipad.jpg

The announcement of the iPad has done a lot of things: it’s stoked up excitement in the Mac using community, it’s got a bunch of developers feverishly coding exciting new stuff, and it’s got retailers and cell phone companies the world over drooling over the money they can make from it.
And it’s also somewhat upset [...]

In Depth: 30 Days with the Nexus One

It’s been a month since my review of Google’s “SuperPhone”, the Nexus One. Since that time, we’ve surfed, updated facebook, navigated, called, played endless hands of cribbage and even tried to freeze it to death on a trip to Dayton Ohio. Follow me after the jump to find out does the “SuperPhone” stand the [...]

Blackra1n RC2 Is Released, ‘New’ iPhone 3GS And iPod Touch Now Supported

Release Candidate 2 (RC2) for Blackra1n, iPhone hacker George Hotz’s software for 1-click jailbreaking, has been released for all existing iPhone and iPod Touch devices. It adds support for new iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 8GB and fixes almost every bug present in the previous version. However, it will NOT unlock the device, enabling it to be used with different GSM carriers worldwide.

If you purchased an iPhone 3GS or iPod Touch 8GB within the last 3 weeks, there is a high probability that you have this new model. Blackra1n currently performs only a tethered jailbreak for these new devices, which means you need to use blackra1n every time you boot the device, otherwise all your jailbreak data gets wiped.  Other bug fixes include an issue with 3G network and some issues with Icy, Ripdev’s installer tool. Also, there is no need to rerun the new version, if the old one worked for you.

For those who don’t already know, blackra1n jailbreaks your iPhone or iPod Touch (any generation) with a single click in merely 30 seconds, making it the easiest jailbreak solution that ever existed.

Blackra1n for Mac and Windows is available to download at blackra1n.com.

Cult of Mac ‘How To’ is available here.

    whts the difference between rc1 and rc2 :-) :-(:-)

Easiest jailbreak ever? Nag. Easiest one ever was the website jailbreak for the original iPhone.

You mean jailbreakme.com? It wasn’t that easy as some people don’t have wireless and in countries like mine, it’s HARD to find a public spot (at least, it was then). Therefore, with ethernet connected mac / pc, it’s easier :D

Oh, not this again. The last blackain didn’t work for anyone, judging by the comments for that article, it certainly didn’t work for me and I was running it on an older 3G

Once again it didn’t RA1N for me using 3.1.2 never been unlocked, jailbroken once at 3.1 only used blackra1n …now i give up.

    Have you tried:
    - shut ituneshelper.exe and iPodservice.exe from task manager
    - switch your iPhone off
    - keep the iPhone connected to PC
    - Start blackra1n and click “make it rain”
    - keep power and home button pressed on iPhone
    - Release the power switch as soon as you see Apple logo while still holding the home button
    - Keep the home button pressed till you see GeoHot picture
    - once you see the message on your pc that iPhone has been jailbroken, release the home button
This worked for me after trying other methods mentioned.. Give it a go and see if it works.

Well after having a martini with the Dali Llama, i have found this…which worked for me the first time…I have the 8gb 3G, running XP, did not turn off any services….this was copied from another site, and mind you I had almost given up on my wife’s phone…

Run Blackra!n RC2, when itunes & usb logo comes on .. just disconnect device from the computer, run blacka1n once again.. click make it rain, attach device back to pc.. this time again you’ll see the blackra1n wallpaper & in few seconds, your device is jail broken.

i have an iphone 3gs which i bought on October this yr, im with rogers carrier and im planning to jailbreak my iphone using blackra1n, i tried but didnt work, i know that i have to wait for the GEOHOT picture but never once came out and it always tells me that i jailbreaked my phone but when i check it, its still the same, i dont see the cydia.pls help me. thanks
