Bioshock Coming to Mac In October (Only Two Years Late)

The critically-acclaimed Bioshock game is coming to the Mac on October 7, Feral Interactive has announced.
The game was released for Windows and the Xbox 360 in August 2007, more than two years ago. Isn’t it great that game developers are so dedicated to the Mac platform?
In addition, the Mac version requires a dedicated video card: it doesn’t support Intel’s integrated GMA video cards, used in some MacBooks and iMacs, and all Mac Minis, except the newest models.
Oh well, the game is reportedly a beauty — scary and deep. Wired.com’s Clive Thompson said it was a better horror movie than anything Hollywood has produced recently.
Bioshock will cost $49.95 and can be preordered on Feral’s online store. Or buy a copy of the Windows version and run under Boot Camp for $20. Pick up a copy of Bioshock 2 for $46.49 at the same time.

Uh, these aren’t the actual developers. These are the guys that obtained the rights to the PC version…
The game has some pretty demanding graphics for it’s time so it’s no wonder the spec sheet is up there.
This is an apple problem, not the devs. No one can get behind something if the platform they’re playing it on isn’t concerned about gaming.

True, this is Apple’s fault.
Apple can do whatever, they make little devices that play music and dominate the world, they make laptops that sell like crazy, they make the best OS on the market, and best quality products
but they can’t make games?
I am not sure why Apple is so weak at this point

get your facts right – you are supposed to know this…the current Mac Minis use the nVidia chipset.

Gee, with Bioshock finally coming out, can Unreal Tournament 3 for the Mac be far behind? (Probably…)

Eventually I think Apple will get in on gaming sooner or later. With the talk of OnLive and the future seeming to go into DLC – it is much more likely a client/service will behind mac gaming and not Apple itself.
Which is fine I guess, they’re busy pushing other platforms and such. I think too many people look to Microsoft with their move with Windows Live and Xbox and think it’s a necessary move for Apple in response.
Time will tell, you look at when Microsoft entered in 2001 and their line of making the Xbox the living room/media experience and it still hasn’t arrived yet.
Apple probably knows this and also knows it will eventually need to move into that direction and they’re possibly just waiting for MS for slip up for slack.
If you enjoy video games as a regular thing, than this news shouldn’t really bother you at all. You’d have picked up an X360 or PS3 by now and had played BioShock quite a while ago.

I just saw the PC version for $5 on Direct2Drive last week.

Not surprised by the price. The Apple Store still wants 60 bucks for Sim City 4, how old is that game like 6 years old?

Wolfenstein will look BETTER than BioShock.
BiShock WILL play on GMA GPUs.
The devs say they won’t just as CYA in case somethin’ happens.
