The guys over at MacHeist are much revered among Mac users for their wonderful series of discounted app bundles. Now they’ve turned iPhone developers with their new game, The Heist… and if you beat the game, you’ll get a free game through Steam for Mac for your trouble.
In The Heist, your goal is to solve sixty different puzzles in order to unlock a secret vault that will give you access to the latest MacHeist bundle. The game features complete Game Center Integration, with 19 achievements in total to earn, and the puzzles themselves are devilishly meta: for example, at one point, you need to field a fake phone call from a girl named Sophia that mimics almost to a t the iPhone’s real interface.
We haven’t beat The Heist yet, but we have it on good authority that finishing the game will give you access to a new MacHeist bundle: namely, through a Steam code for a PC/Mac game with a purchase price far greater than the $0.99 you spent on the app. We’re trying to figure out what game that is, but in the meantime, we’ve got to admire Macheist’s cleverness: these are guys who know how to market.
