A 24-year-old woman spotted an iPad left behind in an emergency waiting room and let her fingers do the walking.

At around 8:45 p.m., Jessica L. Andrews noticed Apple’s magical device sitting all alone in the waiting room of Hunterdon Medical Center in New Jersey after its owner went in for ER treatment. Andrews quickly slotted the handy tablet computer into her purse and left.

However, even if you need serious medical attention, you’re unlikely to forget your iPad altogether.

Once out of immediate danger, the patient who left it behind reported it missing. Police scanned security footage, identified Andrews and went to her home.

Andrews said she planned to take the iPad, at an estimated value of $739, back to the hospital the next day.

Although most portable Apple devices could be defined as cult objects that people have often gone to crazy lengths to possess, the iPad seems to be quickly setting a new bar on that insane-o-meter.

Since its April debut, the iPad has been the fastest adopted gadget since the DVD and has led to at least one appendage-threatening attack and murder threat.
